Facing Opposition

Hebrew 12:3 – Consider him (Jesus Christ) who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted.

We are called to be followers of Jesus Christ, and his life on earth was an example of how we ought to live. He was despised and rejected by men but he was never for a moment distracted from the purpose of which he came. Even so in this life we are going to be reviled and persecuted for the sake of our faith but Matthew 5:11 & 12 says, “Blessed are ye when men shall revile you and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely for my sake. Rejoice and be EXCEEDINGLY glad for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets that we before you.”

So if we are walking in the will of  God, persons are going to oppose us, the devil will rise up agents to distract us, to get us mad and cause us to lose our salvation but we are never to be daunted by this. We also need to know how to deal with opposition, there are many of us who are tempted to fight back in such situations but what did Jesus do? “He opened not his mouth.” We need to learn how to stand still and watch the Lord take control of our battles. When we fight in our own strength we run the risk of embarrassing Christ.

Prayer of Repentance:

Father, we repent for the times when we fought those who oppose us in our own strength. We acknowledge that all our help comes from you and that it is only through you we are able to effectively withstand the attacks of the devil.  We ask you now Lord to forgive us and help us to be sober and vigilant. We cancel every plan and assignment of the adversary right now in the name of Jesus. Lord it is our desire to continue to serve you in spirit and truth so we ask your for a greater anointing, Let your power fall on us God. Give us the power to speak over our lives and the lives of those around us. We ask you God to unleash the Dunamis power unto to us, not so that we can gratify self but so that we can win souls for your kingdom. We continue to pray for our country Jamaica that is being rocked by crime and violence. We ask you great God to let your power be seen God. Show up in the face of some gun man and thief right now God. Change their lives and show them that better is on offer. We worship you for all you have done and all that you are doing and will continue to do over the years in Jesus  name we pray, and the people of God say,
